With Serenity and translucent light infused into her paintings, Cindy Briggs (also known as Cindy Briggs Battles) shares her colorful passion for life in her paintings. The internationally recognized artist has been featured in American Watercolor Magazine, Plein Air Magazine, and Outdoor Painter for her touring workshops in destinations like France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Sicily, Turkey, Croatia, Canada, and from Maine to California to Alaska.
The Daniel Smith Brand Ambassador paints in Watercolors, Oils and Gouache. She conducts online, plein air and studio workshops with many arts organizations including Smithsonian Art Studios, University of Utah, French Escapade, Terracotta.art, Salinara Art Workshops, Shopkeeparty in England, Kimball Art Center, Nevada, Utah and the Northwest Watercolor Societies.
With over 1,000 artists in her online programs, she continues to find ways to connect with artists throughout the world.
She has served as a juror for regional and national art exhibitions, and has been featured in numerous international exhibitions. Her work was also recently featured in SPLASH 24 (The Best of Watercolors).
From a family of artists, Briggs earned a degree in Communication Arts and worked as an Advertising Art Director for top ten agencies on the West Coast prior to painting full time.
She is the co-Author of “Make Every Day A Painting” with Theresa Goesling and is publishing a new Inspirational Journal with Carol Frazier. She lives in Utah near her family and enjoys painting excursions to the Canyonlands and Zion National Park.
Internationally recognized watercolor artist Cindy Briggs has been featured on the cover of International Artist Magazine (including a feature article), as well as in PleinAir Magazine, American Watercolor, Outdoor Painter, Watercolor Magazine, among other publications. She is a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society and Northwest Watercolor Society and a Daniel Smith Brand Ambassador.
Her luminous watercolors are inspired by travel and life experiences and seek to reveal the poetry of each place and subject through captivating design, expressive brushwork, and dramatic light.
Continuing the creative legacy of her family, Cindy shares her passion for the arts through both painting and teaching. For more than 25 years, she has led international plein air retreats and workshops throughout Europe and North America in destinations including France, Italy, Scotland, Greece, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Quebec, Belgium, Sicily, and across North America.
Since 2019, Cindy has expanded that experience through seven immersive online programs featuring encouraging artist communities, live paint-alongs, and growing libraries of more than 350 lessons designed for artists of all levels. Today, more than 1,400 artists participate in her online programs.
Cindy serves on the faculty for Smithsonian Art Studios, University of Utah, Watercolor Live, Terracotta.art, and Palette Exchange and has also served as an instructor and juror for numerous arts organizations.
Before painting full time, Cindy earned a degree in Communication Arts and worked for 15 years as an Advertising Art Director for leading national agencies in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. She is co-author of Make Every Day A Painting with Theresa Goesling and Lemonade Lists with Carol Frazier and continues to develop new resources that encourage creativity and artistic exploration.
Based in Utah, Cindy is drawn to the natural stone cathedrals of Zion, the towering Wasatch Mountains, and the historic architecture of Park City. While traveling throughout Europe remains a dream come true, returning home to her studio offers time for reflection, creating new work, and continuing to share the creative experience with artists online.
